Seo and Social Media Marketing. The future of online marketing
March 17th, 2011

I have been in the online marketing industry for about two years now. Within those two years I have seen a lot of changes. We have seen Google change it’s algorithm plenty of times as well as seen JC Penny lose hold of their Seo because they seo company was too good. In the next coming year the importance of using Seo and Social Media Marketing will be growing for every type of business. It will be very important to have a presence on all the major accounts. This includes search engines, facebook and Twitter.
The growing need to be found online will only get larger as potential customers are no longer looking through the yellow pages, but are going online to search for their current needs as well as listening to peers on Facebook and Twitter. I have dealt with quite a few clients who still do not see the importance of having an online presence that they can be proud of. Engaging will be part of the game and if you do not take this seriously you might be left out in the dust. In today’s market place it will not be about the largest company and/or corporation that will be receiving all the business. I have seen that if you take care of your clients or potential ones you can become a heavy hitter in no time.
Work Hard. Don’t Give Up
January 21st, 2011

I am a firm believer in working hard. I began working part time from the age of 15 year old at Kentucky Fry Chicken. I know what you are all thinking…How can someone ever work in a fast food restaurant, especially KFC. At 15 years old, going to high school daily, a job like this is pretty much the only thing you got. I ended up taking a cooking position at the KFC located in Dorion. Although I did not speak much french at the time, thanks to a close family friend of ours I got the job right away. I will admit that the first couple of months were hard. I hated going to work. I hated the people, the place and especially the smell. None of the staff was very fond of me. At the time, I was the only English speaking staff member there. In a matter of six months that all changed. I began to take the most of the time I spent at work and excelled at it. I received more hours on a weekly basis and my French was beginning to take shape. I ended up working their for four years while finishing high school and most of CEGEP. It was a great learning experience and although at times I wanted to give up and quit I never did.
I find that now at 26 years old this is more crucial than ever. People are giving up too easily on what they want to accomplish in life. They are looking for the “short term” gains rather than the “long term” ones. I will admit that along the way I have sometimes made the same mistake. The reward only lasts so long until your soul is looking for more.
I would like to leave you with a poem that I am sure you have all heard many times, but sometimes it’s nice to hear a reminder.
TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth; 5
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same, 10
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back. 15
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
2011 is finally here.
January 12th, 2011

2011 has started off very well for me. It will be a year of many changes, opportunities, and dedication that I will take in with open arms. It has been over a year now that I have been working for myself. When you are a young entrepreneur, or an entrepreneur of any age starting your own business is never easy. I have been lucky to have a great number of people in my life that have encouraged me along the way. One of my 2011 resolutions will be to maintain and develop this blog. I will be posting an entry at least once and will encourage you to come back more often to check it out. I will be sharing useful information on internet marketing, seo, social media as well as some book reviews.
Hope you are all looking forward to a great 2011!
Field of Dreams – A Lesson Learned
June 20th, 2010
I just finished watching Field of Dreams tonight and remembered why I loved that movie so much when I was younger. I don’t know if many of you remember it but it stars Kevin Costner and has to do with a Baseball Field being built for the dead. I know that the concept seems kind of crazy and really out there, but the movie really places a good idea in a lot of people’s hearts.
In my opinion the movie is about hope and how to never give up on your dreams. I think that in this day and age it is something that a lot of people forget about. I feel as though a lot of people have lost hope in what they really want to do in life, nothing is impossible and everything is obtainable. In the past year I have seen this to become quite the reality in a variety of different ways. I have switched careers, finished University and I am on my way up. Surround yourself by good positive people and they will begin to rub off on you. If anything bad happens always look to the brighter side of everything, because you never know what will really end up happening in the end. Be good to people and they will be good to you but don’t be taken advantage of.
Local Seo – Why your business needs to be there!
June 8th, 2010
Local search engine optimization is a crucial factor for any small business to gain exposure through the internet. It’s an important step to take the time to seek out professional help when concerning your website and marketing strategy. In any type of business we always look at the professionals for answers, online marketing and Seo is the exact same thing. Leave it up to the people who do this for a living to provide you with consultation and services. I have seen one to many times new clients of mine come in with no or little experience thinking that Seo is “easy”. Well in order to fully understand what Local Seo is, it’s important to take the time and learn. This comes from learning from mistakes and repeating things when they become a success.
It is said that over 65% of all search queries made on a daily basis are for local intent, any small business especially in the service industry need to have a website.
The FaceBook Evolution
May 19th, 2010
Has anyone ever looked at how facebook as become the new social phenomenon in the world today? Facebook now holds over 500 million members in over 70 countries all over the world. This is extraordinary. It was not so long ago that Myspace ruled the world wide web with music, friends and the new way we see the internet. In only a few years facebook as taken over and has become the most used social network in the world. It has evolved into something that can be used for personal and business. It has changed the internet and has become a great advertising tool.
The advertising metrics are so valuable because you can segment it to reach users based on there origins, likes, dislikes, favorite movies, colors, books and many other factors. Any small local business can see a great benefit in advertising locally with facebook. Did you know that in Montreal alone there are over 2.5 million facebook users and over half of those users use the social media platform for at least 30 minutes a day. I don’t know about you but these numbers are extraordinary. If you do not have a huge marketing budget but still want to gain some quick targeted PPC campaigns I would recommend using facebook.
If you have any questions about how to setup your campaigns, let me know! I would be glad to help.
The importance of making a Connection
April 12th, 2010
I just recently caught an inspiring keynote by Gary Vaynerchuk that really made me sit back and think about how hungry and devoted I am in making my life a success. I have always been someone who has been inspired by friends and family. I try to engage myself in every possible conversation when and wherever I am because you never know who you are going to meet. I have been to weddings, networking events even through social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook it is important to try and make connections.
Connections are a large part in human interaction. It is essential for anyone who is and wants to be successful to develop their communication skills and learn to connect with people. I have had some many opportunities at a very young age and a lesson that I have learned is that listening is the number one key to connecting with a person. I have been given chances and very large opportunities not because I have the necessary skills, but due to the fact that people like me. A great skill for anyone in any type of work or walk of life is to learn to connect. This can be as easily as saying hello to someone while you are on your way to work in the morning. It can make a simply “hello, how are you?” to the person that served you your coffee. These simple changes in your life can have a huge impact on not only your personal well being, but it can make a person’s day. Business opportunities come from these very interactions. The job that I currently have is a perfect example of just that. So, if I can leave you with one thought it would be to try and make a connection with someone new every day. There is nothing bad that can happen and you never know who is just around the corner.
Social Media Breakfast Montreal with Mitch Joel
March 24th, 2010
I wanted to share with my fellow Montrealers that there is a really big event that is coming up next week and I thought that I would all let you know about it. It was started in Montreal by my brother Jeff Taylor who is co-owner of Heelatch which is a web and logo design company that specializes in web and logo design. It was originally started to encourage people within the related field of online marketing and social media marketing to get out there and meet new people. The first event ended up being quite a successes and attracting over 50 people. This might not seem like a lot to you, but for 50 people to take time out of their morning at 9am to come to an event is rather quite impressive. There were three speakers involved and to what I thought put on quite a great presentation.
Next week on April 1st we are having our second event at B-side which is located on St Laurent street. You can find out more about the event here…I really recommend that you sign up and begin to get involved if you want to meet people and are even looking for a job in the field.Social Media Breakfast I will be there with some colleagues and it promises to be a great event. Mitch Joel for all of you who have not heard of him is one of the top marketers in the world.
Check it out and I hope to see you there!

Do not waste any opportunity and try and seek out new ones by saying Hello. Most of the people that I have met have been nice, so just think as though they are like you because they mostly are. So send me an email with any questions you have…maybe I know someone who can point you in the right direction…more to come!
